Callidus employee Celeste Sebial, who moved to Australia in 2015 from the village of Dunguan in the Philippines, recently set up a GoFundMe page to raise much-needed funds for her home village.
Her family members informed her that due to Government lockdowns in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, villagers had lost their incomes and as a result, are struggling with impending starvation as Government aid is just too overwhelmed.
When Callidus CEO, David Wood, heard of Celeste’s efforts to raise much-needed funds to buy rice, eggs and canned goods to feed more than 100 people during this difficult time, he wanted to help. Callidus have pledged to purchase one tonne of rice, along with $1,500 worth of eggs and canned goods to be distributed to the families of Dunguan as needed over the coming weeks.
It is a privilege to be able to support those who are doing it much tougher than we are here in Australia – Callidus is proud and grateful to be in a position to help not only feed families facing starvation, but also the immediate family members of a Callidus employee.
Callidus has a workshop in Binan Laguna, Philippines and is passionate about supporting the local people during these unprecedented times.
